A Review of 'Purple Background Heart' - A Predictable yet Enjoyable Movie

In the romantic drama film 'Purple Background Heart', I found myself wishing for more emotional depth and passion throughout the movie. Instead, I was left with a predictable ending where the two leads finally declare their love for each other in one brief scene towards the end of the film.

I felt that the story could have been strengthened by exploring the characters' inner struggles and demons earlier on. Luke's past mistakes and emotional baggage, for instance, were barely touched upon, leaving me wanting more insight into his character. The film's attempt to create an emotionally resonant ending came across as shallow and unconvincing.

Moreover, I was disappointed that the movie didn't delve deeper into Frankie's storyline, a sweet and innocent character who was suddenly killed off without much fanfare. His engagement to his girlfriend would have been a lovely subplot to explore.

Cassie, played by Sofia Carson, seemed to be overly critical of Luke, which made it difficult for me to buy into their fake marriage. Their lack of chemistry on screen didn't help, and I often found myself wondering why Cassie couldn't try harder to make the ruse more believable.

The film's climax, where a random drug dealer accuses Luke and Cassie of having a fake marriage, felt contrived and unbelievable. The military officers' swift acceptance of this claim without evidence or proof was frustrating.

Despite these flaws, I did enjoy certain aspects of the movie, particularly the songs 'Come Back Home' and 'I Didn't Know'. Nicholas Galitzine's performance as Luke showed potential, but I think he deserves a script that allows him to showcase his range more effectively.

Overall, while 'Purple Background Heart' was an enjoyable watch, its predictable plot and shallow character development made it difficult for me to fully invest in the story. With some tweaks to the script and attention to detail, this movie could have been truly special.
